November 28, 2011 — Sabreliner Corporation Develops New and Improved Techniques in Coating Removal Process
"Sabreliner's history in innovation runs deep and we continue to use that legacy in our everyday efforts," said Terry Miner, Sr. Manager Environmental, Health and Safety for Sabreliner. Miner's group recently made significant enhancements in the coating removal process related to the CAStLE program contracted by the US Air Force Academy. By using dry steam in the coating removal process Sabreliner has greatly reduced the amount of hazardous waste water generated from the 40,000 pieces of the KC-135. The initial expectation was that 84,250 pounds of waste water would be generated on each plane. Instead just 630 pounds of waste water has been generated half way through the first plane. This equates to a 98.5% reduction of the waste generation during the coating removal process. Miner reports these benefits include saving time and limiting environmental impact.
